Bob Holly

Robert William Howard (born January 29th, 1963) a.k.a. Bob \"Hardcore\" Holly is an United States Professional wrestling performing for World Wrestling Entertainment on the SmackDown! brand. Bob has been credited as the hot-tempered ''"Hardcore King"''. ==World Wrestling Entertainment== Bob "Hardcore" Holly has been a WWE wrestler for over 10 years and is currently one of the longest tenured wrestlers on the WWE roster. Holly's original gimmick was that of a race car driver, under the stage name Thurman "Sparky" Plug and later "Spark Plug" Bob Holly. In April of 1995 in a Wrestling Challenge, Bob Holly defeated Jeff Jarrett to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship. However, Jarrett's foot was on the rope during the 3 count and the IC title was declared vacant. Jeff Jarrett defeated Bob Holly in a rematch to recapture the Intercontinental championship. Several years after his failed attempt to capture the Intercontinental title, Holly entered the race for the WWE's new WWE Hardcore Championship. Under the new nickname "Hardcore Holly", he became a force in the newly established Hardcore division of WWE. Eventually Holly started claiming that he was a "Super Heavyweight" and that he weighed more than 400 pound. As part of his new gimmick, he formed an alliance/rivalry with The Paul Wight, a real Super Heavyweight embarassed by Holly's delusions of grandeur. He was then teamed up with on his on-screen cousin, the late Mike Lockwood and at one point the duo even managed to capture the World Tag Team Championships. In 2000, his other on-screen "cousin" Noreen Greenwald was introduced. Holly's career was almost ended in mid-2002 after he suffered a broken neck during a match against Brock Lesnar. Lesnar had powerbombed Holly neck-first right onto the mat. He had a 13 month hiatus from wrestling after surgery. In recent months he has been gaining a reputation as a bully among the superstars after his brutal treatment of Tough Enough III contestant Matt Cappotelli, and his vindictive attack on the face of Rene Dupree during a match as punishment for a traffic incident. Some believe Bob to be a real life "enforcer (professional wrestling)" used by Vince McMahon to punish or prevent negative attitude by young Superstars. Many commented and suggested that Bob Holly needed to be released from the WWE due to his recent actions. Holly was once married to former Diva (professional wrestling) Cathy Dingman. Outside of wrestling, Holly appeared in the 2000 film ''Operation Sandman''. == Profile == *Height: 6'1" (1.85 m) *Weight: 242lbs (109.8 kg) *Birthday: January 29, 1963 *Hometown: Talladega, Alabama *Trained by: Rip Tyler *Professional Debut: 1990 *Previous Identities: Sparky Plugg, Bodacious Bob, "Hollywood" Bob Holly *Manager(s): Jim Cornette *Quotes: "Nut up or shut up!", "How do you like me now?" === Finishing/Signature Moves === *Professional wrestling throws#Alabama slam *Professional wrestling attacks#Dropkick *Professional wrestling high-flying techniques#Flying Clothesline *Suplex#Sitout Suplex Slam *Professional wrestling holds #Full nelson *Professional wrestling aerial techniques#Diving leg drop *Professional wrestling attacks#Low blow == Titles/accomplishments == World Wrestling Entertainment *2-Time World Tag-Team Championship with Sean Waltman, and Mike Lockwood *6-Time WWE Hardcore Championship

Bob Holly

==Bob Holly: Racecar driver?== Maybe this is me buying too much into the "Sparky Plugg" gimmick, but I was under the impression Holly was indeed a stock car racer before becomming a wrestler. Any truth to that? --User:UsaSatsui 00:45, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC) I also think a mention of the "Well over 400 lbs" gimmick should be mentioned. :I heard that the Sparky Plugg was born out of the fact that Bob Holly was a registered NASCAR driver actually. I'll add some history for the "Superheavyweight" gimmick. --User:Jtalledo User_talk:Jtalledo 21:07, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC) ::But was -this- Bob Holly a NASCAR driver? If he was, certainly that deserves some mention beyond a gimmick. He probably wasn't a very good one, if he turned to wrestling. --User:UsaSatsui 00:45, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC) :::From what I understand, this Bob Holly was a registered race car driver while he was a wrestler. --User:Jtalledo User_talk:Jtalledo 02:34, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)
