I had never even heard of Wikipedia until I ran across [http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/01/22/0258226&mode=thread this story] on Slashdot congratulating it on its 100,000th article. Since then Wikipedia has enjoyed enormous success, increasing its article count more than five-fold and threatening to become the Internet's fixture reference work. At the same time Wikipedia explodes in breadth I hope it can attain new profundities of depth, and begin measuring itself against the same rigorous standards of quality as scholarly reference works are judged by. == Bio == I came to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1997 as a Stanford University and have remained here since, working as a software developer for the same company that first hired me. Unlike most of my peers I chose not to join a start-up, and so the closest I came to the dotcom excitement of the era was paying off my student loans with some of the stock options I managed to cash out at an opportune moment. == Work == My current areas of interest include historiography, media analysis, and future Nobel Prize in Literature Philip Roth (hey Oslo, he ain't getting any younger!). Some of the more successful articles I've been been responsible for are: * Philip Roth ** ''Portnoy's Complaint'' * Journalism fraud === Goals for 2005 === * Implementing m:Wikicite

If you have any other questions about the project then check out Wikipedia:Help or add a question to the wikipedia:Village pump. Cheers! --user:maveric149 ---- Shouldn't spolia opima be spolia optima? ---User:Ihcoyc I thought so too, but it seems to be called "opima" and not "optima"; see http://www.ku.edu/history/index/europe/ancient_rome/E/Roman/Texts/secondary/SMIGRA%2A/Spolia.html -- User:Jleybov :So sorry, then; ''opima'' is a word in itself, apparently means "rich." It may not be a grammatical superlative in that case. --User:Ihcoyc == Thanks for futuh cite == Thanks for the addition of futuh to the list of sources in the Islamic historiography article. I started the article, but it's an area I'm still exploring, and ''clearly'' I don't know everything. You might also want to take a look at Historiography and nationalism, which I just started, and see if any additions can be made. We're also engaged in a hot little war of words at Elamite empire re the legitimacy of claiming past civilizations as nationalist achievements. I dunno whether you'll agree with me or not, but it seems like you care about historical accuracy. User:Zora 18:09, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC) :Thanks for the info, Zora. I really didn't expect such fast feedback for an article that's on such an obscure topic ;) I'll look at the links you provided but I doubt I have enough expertise to add much at the moment; I tend to write only on those topics I'm currently reading up on. :User:Jleybov 18:04, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
