Jmabel/Archive 14== Vote to delete anti-Israel Shark Palestine Caricature == Hi Joe, see Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion#April 1 [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Images_and_media_for_deletion#April_1] to delete :Image:Shark Palestine Caricature.jpg [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Shark_Palestine_Caricature.jpg] This highly offensive anti-Israel "caricature" spoofing ''Jaws (movie)'' that depicts the POV that Israel is the the aggressive "shark" and that the Palestinians are poor little innocent "victims". This is raw pro-Arab propaganda and unfortunately fits the pattern of User:AladdinSE's insertion of the offensive :Image:MoneyJews.jpg taken from the Nazis. User:IZAK 07:15, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC) == :) == Love your new sig! User:Radiant!User_talk:Radiant!meta:mergist 08:55, Apr 1, 2005 (UTC) == Jew#Renaissance & Enlightenment == Sorry...I couldn't help laughing as I fixed that. שבת שלום User:TShilo12 User talk:TShilo12 23:06, Apr 1, 2005 (UTC) ==JCarriker== I don't know if you've read our exchange in its entirety, but as far as I'm concerned this guy was dead wrong from the start. He jumped the gun in taking offense and then took his idiotic assumptions to the RfC page. There was absolutely no reason for him to refer to our exchange at all in the RfC -- for precisely the reasons I've mentioned. He can ''say'' that's what his intent was, but I don't buy it. Nor is his intention clear in his remarks in the RfC -- because I don't believe that's what motivated him. His remarks regarding the Afrophobia exchange have been disingenuous (essentially, "you're another one"). I don't see any reason for you to get involved in this thing, either, though I appreciate your good intentions. But what do you ''mean'' you don't want to get involved in the Afrophobia thing? Your communication is precisely what you're doing. To treat Carriker's comments in the RfC ''is'' to get involved in it. You wouldn't have responded as you did, otherwise. I see nothing but ego at work here on his part, and as far as I'm concerned, he can go to hell. User:Deeceevoice 06:02, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC) == Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Chamaeleon == Hey there. Did you ever see my reply on my talk page about ''copamiento''? Anyway, if you have the time, you could give your opinion on Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Chamaeleon. See ya. User:Chamaeleon 19:06, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC) :Thanks for your support. Incidentally, I've been reading your stuff about interview brainteasers. It's interesting research. User:Helpful Dave 14:06, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC) == RfC for Immigration to Israel from Arab lands == Hi Joe, Immigration to Israel from Arab lands is in the RfC section at Wikipedia:Requests for comment#Article content disputes [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RfC#Article_content_disputes] because of someone's "Concerns for neutrality and unreferenced disputed facts. Please review, help out.". Thought you would like to know. User:IZAK 03:16, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC) == Mediterannean History == Hello Jmabel, I've seen your comments on the talk page of Phoenicia, and I assume that you're familiar with Mediterannean culture. I've started a new article called History of the Mediterannean. If you know a lot of things about the history of the Mediterannean, you can check out this new article I've made, and if you like, you can add more to it if you know a lot about Mediterannean history.--User:Gramaic 03:39, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC) == ANPR == Thanks for your positive and constructive comments at Wikipedia:International writing contest/Judges' commentsabout ANPR - I'll now be able to expand on some ideas you've helped me come up with. I didn't realize there had been prior discussion. Thanks for cleaning up after me, User:harry491 User_talk:harry491 16:25, Apr 4, 2005 (UTC) == About the Tacnazo == Do you think that "Tacnaso" must get and article? it's two more important points are stated in the Juan Velasco Alvarado article. Anyways, I'm already doing some research about it. Please feel free to respond in my talk page. Thanks User:Messhermit 04:21, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC) :Good point, I forgot about that. By the way, do you believe that the way those points are stated in the Velasco articles are ok? I mean, it explain the main two reason of the coup. Take a look and give me your opinion. Thanks User:Messhermit 04:37, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC) ::Well, at least in Peruvian history, there are a lot of them. Fo you need info for any of those? if you can give me the names of the coups that you want info, I could look for them. Once again, Thanks. User:Messhermit 04:52, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC) :::Understand. I will work on information on coups during those Timelines. User:Messhermit 05:02, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC) == Interesting Idea to achieve compromise on AF article == Also, I was going to ask you something about the AF article: Do you think that the Privatisations and all the economic info should be stated on a separated article that can deal with the Economy of Peru? I mean, I believe that is important that relevant info must remain in AF page, but a much more detailled discussion can be created to disscussed more accurately? Please, give me your opinion. Thanks User:Messhermit 05:02, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC) :I agree with you. They should be statedin AF page, and another article should then take the led and analized in much more detail. What about creating an article call Privatisations on Peru to deal with it? Also, with Viajero's Help, the article Economy of Peru could be expanded to state this. Thanks. User:Messhermit 05:32, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC) == Eugene Onegin (opera) == Someone has translated the paragraphs that were added in Russian. As I mentioned on Wikipedia:Pages_needing_translation_into_English, though, these paragraphs are a likely copyvio and POV. So I went to remove those today, and saw there has been a translation. Could you please look over that article and say if removing those would still be acceptable (I just would feel sad for the guy who translated it). User:Solver 14:20, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC) ==Fools== If you really want to, you can finish it; it's more likely that you'll simply remove it, so feel free to do so. --User:SPUI (User talk:SPUI) 22:56, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC) :My point is that my addition of the template was not serious, and was not meant to be done all the way. --User:SPUI (User talk:SPUI) 23:01, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC) ==MoS== If you would like to criticize my "English" (actually a typo) at least do it on my talk page and not in an edit summary. Thanks. User:Hyacinth 00:33, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC) :Thanks for the reply, disparagment no longer interpreted. The edit was [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia%3AManual_of_Style&diff=0&oldid=11934139]. Rather than: "if we are going to give examples, they should use correct English" (this also implies that we shouldn't use examples), I would suggest "corrected English", "removed stray 'is'", or another description of ''your'' edit rather than mine. User:Hyacinth 00:52, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC) == Bhili language == Hi, just wanted to let you know I've rewritten Bhili language so that it's in English and is actually about the Bhili language. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about it, but I added what I could. I wanted to have somehthing like barn stars but is more "easy to folow". Barnstars are too broad... --User:Coolcat User talk:Coolcat 15:05, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC) * I've responded to CoolCat on his talk page. The short of it is I didn't say I'm resigning, I said I would resign if Wikipedia adopted a certain policy he is advocating. I don't think there is much chance of it happening, but I meant what I said. -- User:Jmabel | User talk:Jmabel 23:40, Apr 7, 2005 (UTC) **You fail to see what I am suggesting. Either the next of kin are keeping quiet until after the funeral or it is a hoax. I guess we will know within a day or two. To be quite honest, it never occurred to me that it might be spurious. Twice before I learned via mailing lists about the deaths of two notable lefties, David Dellinger and William Hinton, a couple of days before the news hit the MSM, and I amended the articles here accordingly without it being an issue. -- User:Viajero 16:17, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC) :This just in, from the ''Guardian'': [http://www.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,3604,1457220,00.html "Feminist icon Andrea Dworkin dies"] -- User:Viajero 17:35, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC) ::Why should it seem surprising? When some ancient figure like the pope or R. Reagan croaks, wire service necrologists are lined up for a mile. When lesser mortals go, people may learn about these things first through email and mailing lists. User:Guy Montag 21:17, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC) == issues about school articles == In November 2003, there was a VfD debate over Sunset High School (Portland). The debate was archived under Talk:Sunset High School (Portland). What to do with the article is still being contested and has been recently re-nominated for VfD at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Sunset High School (Portland). I am writing to you because you have participated in such debates before. There still does not exist a wikipedia policy (as far as i can tell) over what to do in regards to articles about specific U.S. public school. My hope is that a real consensus can come out of the debate, and a real policy can take shape. Take part if you are so willing. User:Pérez User:80.58.40.235 20:54, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC) == Merging Converso and Marrano articles == Hi Joe: Even though the brief article about Conversos makes them ''appear'' to be different to the Marranos, the latter article which is much more comprenhensive does not seem to differentiate between these two groups really. If that is so, I think that the Converso article should be merged with, and redirected to the Marrano article. Thanks for reviewing these two articles. User:IZAK 08:59, 13 Apr 2005 (UTC) :That's not true. ''Converso'' includes Muslims. If they were to be merged, the specific term should be merged into the general one. Also, ''converso'' is preferable to ''marrano'' because the former is neutral whilst the latter means "swine", i.e. it's rather anti-Semitic. In fact, don't let SlimVirgin see Marrano; she'll probably Vfd it as part of her crusade. :) — User:Helpful_Dave 09:14, 13 Apr 2005 (UTC) ::Hi Dave, I'm not sure what is "not true" here. All I ''am'' stating is that if you read the Marrano article you will see it talks in terms of the Conversos being Marranos too. I know what the word "Marrano" means, but to historians (Jewish and general) it is a neutral term -- because it was used for hundreds of years -- and if you "cut it out" you are in effect "editing" history which is of course both ridiculous and self-defeating. I don't really pay much heed to political correctness and revisionism, but I am on good terms with SlimVirgin and hope to keep it that way...''hope to''... Thanks for the input. Now, what does Joe think? User:IZAK 09:47, 13 Apr 2005 (UTC) :::Joe will no doubt answer soon, but in the meantime, I'll respond. The Marrano article defines ''marranos'' as Jewish ''conversos''. I've just done a quick word-search on the article, and neither "Islam" nor "Muslim" occur in the text, so I don't know what you mean by "if you read the Marrano article you will see it talks in terms of the Conversos [including Muslims] being Marranos too." Also, I didn't say we should "cut out" the use of the term "marrano" from history, but that some might find it offensive as a page title. I've seen examples of other stuff being deleted because Jewish wikipedians didn't like the title. :) — User:Helpful_Dave 10:15, 13 Apr 2005 (UTC) ==Zulu article introduction== Hi there.
