JpgordonHi everyone! My name's Josh Gordon. I've got a ton of different interests and possibly interesting experiences that might or might not result in useful and informative additions to Wikipedia. For example, I've worked at IMSAI 8080, Autodesk and eBay as a software engineer; I was lead trumpet for the Oingo Boingo; I'm a jazz pianist and folk guitarist; I've lived in Alexandria, VA, Munich, Germany, Eugene, Oregon, Tarzana, California, Berkeley, San Francisco, and Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in early 2005. I spent many years on WELL, for a long time as conference host of several of the most popular forums (Current Events and Politics, for example), and I'm an utter fanatic for encyclopedias and dictionaries of all sorts. I've collected comic books most of my life, though not much in the last ten years -- my old friends kept getting killed off or replaced with children, so to hell with it. I do have a nice collection of original art by John Byrne, Neal Adams, Scott McCloud, and Chris Ware. I also collect photography, and have some lovely prints by Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Ruth Bernhard, Diane Arbus (the "Jewish Giant" was my cousin) and Paul Caponigro. Mostly I'm doing janitorial Labor around here. I've been Wikipedia:revert a lot of vandalism, marking Trash for WP:CSD, putting occasional non-speedy candidates on WP:VfD, and I've got a good eye for WP:CP. I've started a few articles on my own, though not too many -- a few musical instruments, a few apple cultivars, some stuff about towns I live in or have lived in, and some photographers. But the janitorial work comes naturally to me; I was "code cop" at Autodesk and at eBay, so browsing other people's work is quick, easy, and pleasurable. I became an Wikipedia:Administrator on Nov. 26, 2004. ==Ironically== I'm currently on a crusade against "Wikipedia:Words to avoid#\"Amusingly\" / \"Ironically\"". ---- ====(tools)==== *It is now UTC *Today's VFD: Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Log/ JpgordonCleared 15:09, 16 May 2005 (UTC) -- check history for record. ---- == my proposal == Hi, I just announced I am stepping away from the proposal discussion for several days. I know I have polarized the discussion, which I didn't want to do. If you are willing, I hope you will visit the page periodically and do whatever you can or think is appropriate to facilitate discussion between both sides. Thanks Steve == Image deletion == Please contact me next time you speed deleted one of my images (:Image:Hammersmith and city line small.png). I'm really annoyed that my version of this is gone now. ed_g2s">User:Ed g2s • talk">User talk:ed_g2s 13:37, 18 May 2005 (UTC) == The Jews were responsible for Apartheid == Our historical revisionist is back at Apartheid. Jpgordon, I see you are being called to help circumvent the 3 Revert Rule.User:69.217.123.174 16:35, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC) *I'm sure you can read dates. That was almost a month ago -- and he didn't need to call me for anything; I have Apartheid on my watchlist. And if you didn't notice, I was the one who reverted your edit in the first place. --User:JpgordonUser talk:Jpgordon 00:14, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC) == Talk:Pandeism == I'm back a day early, but today is all about unpacking and cleaning up, so not much wiki-time. All it does is add the word "link" in a place where it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. --User:Weyes(User talk:Weyes) 06:28, 2005 May 31 (UTC) *Nah, I didn't go back far enough. --User:JpgordonUser talk:Jpgordon 15:40, 31 May 2005 (UTC) ==Blacks and The Holocaust== Just as Jews were throughout Europe, so, too, were blacks -- but in far smaller numbers. Most were "mixed-race." They were discriminated against and marginalized and segregated from mainstream German society. Most were forcibly sterilized, but it is estimated that at least 400 German blacks were sent to concentration camps. African-American woman jazz musician Valaida Snow was arrested in Denmark while living in and touring Europe and survived 18 months in Wester-Faengler, a Nazi concentration camp. She was released, along with some Allied troops, as part of a prisoner swap. And there were others. A relatively quick search on the Internet should yeild at least spotty information. Here's one: http://www.thechronicle.demon.co.uk/archive/lovehate.htm . Just as non-Jewish victims of The Holocaust are continually overlooked, its black victims are almost ''never'' mentioned. User:Deeceevoice 20:53, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC) ==Al Qunaytirah== Could you take a look at this article? I am having trouble with Yuber pushing POV entries. I cannot compromise with him anymore, so I need a third opinion. User:Guy Montag 23:15, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC) == Thanks for your support == Hi! thank you supporting my successful admin candidacy.
