Joseph Zhen Ying Xu (1983-2026) was born Xu Zhen Ying in the city of Shanghai, China. He was an unsuccessful computer scientist, writer, philosopher, and self-proclaimed Huguenot. == Life == After a promising childhood and then lukewarm performance as an undergraduate at the California Institute of Technology, where he pursued a bachelor of science in computer science, Xu's life plummeted to complete worthlessness due to his continued belief that he would find more meaning in existence than anyone before him. He died alone in a strip club at the age of 43. == Philosophy == Xu's basic belief was that man had created an idealized image of himself that was impossible to attain, and because of this, would never achieve contentment. He argued that it followed that there is no reason for the human species to endure the suffering resulting from attempts to live up to this ideal, therefore they should all just kill themselves, after which no one will be left to care anyway. == Contributions == Some time during 2011 Xu wrote a computer program that could identify transvestites from their urine samples. He has not been credited for any other known work.
