There are unnecessary. In particular, you need only link once to another article -- you do not have to repeat the link every time a word appears. In the Wikipedia:Picture tutorial, the recommendation reads: "Perhaps the easiest way is to make floating images alternate left then right - this way they don't come into contact with one another, and so can't stack up in an unattractive way." In my opinion all pictures alligning right wold be unattractive.
